Vi har kommit för att plocka hem titeln!

November 27, 2008

I found these two mixtapes we did for club Blaze and thought it would be suitable to post them as another warm up for next Wednesday. What strikes me is how the mixing differs from today – this is all about playing the full track and nothing more, so not that exciting when it comes to that. But there are some amazing songs on them and especially the Blaze mixtape is a showcase of what kind of hip hop we played, listened to and represented in Stockholm back in 2001. The Hits For Heads mixtape was mixed by me and supposed to be more of something for, that’s right, the heads. It contains rawer, not very danceable stuff, but has some real bangers on it for you to nod your head to.

Shout out to my homies John Marco, Sebastian S-G and L Nutta for keeping it real since day one!

Bomben X

Next Wednesday, Dec 3rd, sees the ten year anniversary of club collective and web zine Bomben.se, which I used to be a part of when we still were active. I’ll be playing on both the Blaze floor and the Pom Pom floor. Blaze is an old hip hop club I used to run with three cool dudes and we’ll be backed up by about 30 rappers.

The Pom Pom floor sees Montreal’s finest, DJ Hatchmatik, along Stefski and I. You can’t miss this party, it will have six floors of dopeness ranging from indie to techno! Here are a bunch of Hatchmatik tracks to get you in the mood:

Chromeo – Bonified Lovin’ (Hatchmatik remix feat. Teki Latex)

Thunderheist – Bubblegum (Hatchmatik Birdflu in June remix)

Kanye West – Love Lockdown (Hatchmatik remix vol. 2)

M.I.A. – Boys (Hatchmatik remix)

Fake Blood – Mars (Hatchmatik bootleg)

Intoxicated – Burn It Down (Hatchmatik Burn Down The Club remix)

Blaq Starr – Shake It To The Ground (Hatchmatik Electrolux remix)

The most outragous video ever

November 19, 2008

Back in ‘91 a friend of mine recorded this cover of a Ted Nugent song off MTV’s Headbangers Ball and we watched it over and over again. It could be the funniest piece of video ever recorded. I just stumbled across it again, something I will be forever grateful to the metal gods for. In addition to the video, here are some facts on the band Nitro:

- The lead singer’s name is Jim Gillette.

- Jim Gillette had such a high pitched voice he could shatter glass, which he often did as bringing crystal goblets on-stage was part of Nitro’s live show.

- Michael Angelo (yes!), the lead guitarist, not only invented the “Double V-Neck” guitar (as seen in the video), he topped that with the Quad Guitar X-400, an axe with four necks in an X formation, each featuring seven strings.

- Their three drummers were called Bobby Rock, K.C. Comet and Johnny Thunder (that’s steroid dude in the video).

Yes, that’s right bitches, tomorrow me and Stefski are at it again. As Emynd (watch out Stockholm on November 22nd!) posted a sweet blend he did on T-Pain’s and Lil’ Weezy’s “I Can’t Believe It” I got reminded of the Bookshelf riddim being one of my favorite riddims of all time. I love that shit to death and I don’t play it often enough nowadays so count on hearing it on Pom Pom tomorrow. Here are a few cuts.

Also don’t forget go listening/downloading Emynd’s track above.

Sean Paul – Deport Them

Tanya Stephens – Form You Hot

Tanto Metro & Devonte – Say Wooee

Sasha – Dat Sexy Body

BONUS: Diplo’s remix of T.I.’s “Game Over”, which contains elements from both Radiohead and the Bookshelf riddim.
